6. create a shoe car

Shoe Car

Recommended Group: Year 2 - 7

Specifically linked to the shoe car constructed from rubbish in The Stroogle’s New Home, this activity lets students cut, paste and colour their own little shoe cars from photocopied outlines of shoes, wheels, motors etc.  This activity has proven a success for all ages, levels of ability and gender. Students are encouraged to write a story using their character following the workshop.

Time: This activity can be run for 60 or 90 minutes. Colouring may need to be completed in class time proceeding the session if wet glues are used.

Maximum Size: A double class (60 students).

Materials Required: Coloured pencils, scissors, glue, blank paper (A4 or A3) for pasting.

Download Handout Required: Create a Shoe Car (Print 1 per 4 students)
Students create separate cars but there are enough components in each kit to be shared between 4 students to minimise waste.  The kits can be enlarged to A3 to avoid detailed cutting for younger classes. To save time on the day please ensure all required activity sheets are photocopied and grouped as kits (eg pages 1-13 together, rather than all of the page 1 copies together).

Preparation: Read students The Stroogle’s New Home and any other Stroogle books.
