What better way to teach the fundamentals of narrative writing to students than to discover how a professional author uses the very same planning methods!
Using his Stroogle stories as examples, Cameron will highlight the key ingredients to planning a successful narrative. Cameron will then assist students to brainstorm their own ideas with his narrative planning worksheet and offer them valuable advice to improve their story writing.
This activity reinforces the use of appropriate technical terms such as ‘audience’, ‘theme’, ‘characters’, ‘orientation’, ‘complication’ and ‘resolution’.
Time: This activity runs for 60 minutes.
Maximum Size: A double class (60 students).
Materials Required: Pencils and eraser.

Technology (optional): The PowerPoint ‘How a Book is Made’ has some slides relevant to this activity. A data projector and computer would be required.
